Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy

Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy (affiliated to University of Delhi) opened its doors to the first batch of students in the year 1999, with an aim to provide health-care needs of the community through education and training of physiotherapy practitioners. The institute runs Bachelor of Science (Honours) Physiotherapy course of four and half year duration including six months of Internship after the completion of this course. The course capacity is 30 students and admission is through an entrance examination conducted by University of Delhi. 

It also offers short term courses under the umbrella of ‘Continuing Physiotherapy Education’ and organizes community based physiotherapy camps at regular intervals.

Global Teacher Training Centre for Special Education


The centre conducts courses in special education recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). These include:

  • Diploma in Special Education – Mental Retardation (D.Ed.SE –MR) – Regular 2 year (4 semesters) with an intake of 30 students per batch.
  • Diploma in Special Education – Deaf & Hard of Hearing (D.Ed.SE –DHH) – Regular 2 year (4 semesters) with an intake of 30 students per batch.
  • Diploma in Special Education – Early Childhood in Mental Retardation (D.EC.SE –MR) – Regular  1 year (2 semesters) with an intake of 25 students per batch.


It also organizes Continued Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programmes for in – service teachers. Few of these are:

  • Ten day programme on “ Understanding Learning Difficulties”.
  • Ten day programme on “ Understanding Disabilities and Specific Needs”
  • Five day programme on “ Multi Category Disability”
  • Three day programme on “ Communication options for the Education of Children with Hearing & Speech Impairment

Special Study Centre - Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)


In 1999 Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust was accredited as Special Study Centre of IGNOU (0734 D) for extending the facility of open education to the physically challenged, housewives and people who are already employed, so that they have an opportunity to improve their qualifications. 

Not only is it the oldest centre of IGNOU in East Delhi, but, with 24 subjects being taught in diploma programmes, it is also one of the largest study centres in NCR. Counseling sessions are organized on Saturdays and Sundays.

Accredited Study Centres - National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)


Students who cannot cope with CBSE syllabus have the option to continue their studies under NIOS. Amar Jyoti is accredited for IIIrd, Vth, VIIIth, Xth and XIIth standards.
