Medical care and therapeutic units contribute immensely in providing rehabilitative services with a holistic approach. Amar Jyoti through its OPD clinic caters to promotive, preventive and curative services not only to the school children in the premises but also patients and people in the communities. A panel of 30 eminent doctors of Delhi render voluntary services to patients below poverty line are given free treatment.

Obesity clinic is managed by Endocrinologist, general physician, physiotherapist and dietician.
Amar Jyoti's medical services concentrate not only on rehabilitation but also on the prevention of disability wherever possible.  Furthermore, Amar Jyoti also participates in the government's PULSE POLIO immunization programme. Seven orthopaedic surgeons offer their voluntary services once a week. They perform free surgery at Amar Jyoti operation theatre.
Amar Jyoti is one of the pioneers in establishing well equipped therapeutic and rehabilitative service units under one roof. Following facilities are available at very nominal charges for out patients and free for the school children and members of the staff.  The patients belonging to economically weaker sections are given services free of cost.

Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics

The main aim of the Department is to provide appropriate and comfortable mobility aids to persons with disabilities to enable them to get back to their normal activities with as little discomfort and inconvenience as possible. The department is committed to provide best mobility aids using latest technology and materials.

The mobility aids are provided to poor beneficiaries free of cost under the ADIP Scheme of Ministry of social Justice & empowerment, Government of india. Under the ALTSO, USA project in the current year we have reached a large number of beneficiaries in remote areas through  camps. The aim was to raise awareness of facilities available under ADIP scheme of the Ministry and to spread information about mobility aids and their usage. To make it much more meaningful, the members of the medical board were also requested to provide disability certificates and recommend for pensions.

Physiotherapy Department 

Amar Jyoti's Physiotherapy Department was established in 1982, and has steadily grown so that it now treats almost 11,000 patients a year.  The department also undertakes internships for students from various institutes.
Several workshops and conferences are organized every year in collaboration with professionals in the field of physiotherapy. The department attends to 90-100 patients (old & new) every day. The obesity clinic, which is run by the department, is becoming very popular among the patients due to specialized exercise regimes. This year a separate- neuro- paediatric clinic has been
started, which is gaining momentum. The department has the full support of Amar Jyoti Institute of physiotherapy staff members for its functioning.

Occupational Therapy

The department plays a vital role in making each child independent in the following areas:

  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Sensory Integrative Skills
  • Pre-vocational Skills

Following an individual assessment for each child, goals are formulated and intervention
implemented through individual sessions. Adaptation, modification and exercise are designed to enhance independent performance of self-help skills. Follow-up is maintained through parents?-thearapists? meetings and a customized home programme.


Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology

Amar Jyoti Speech & Hearing department  offers services to children and adults with speech and hearing disorders. The number of hearing impaired children has risen this year. Most of the children come for special education here. Children with delayed speech, mental retardation and articulation defects were also referred by different hospitals and private practitioners. Parents? counselling, education and therapy  procedures were the main center of educating and rehabilitating the group. Parents were given the tips, dos and don?ts to exercise children at home. Other activities like radio talk,T.V programmes and workshops were conducted to create public awareness throughout the year.
